The Responding to Emergencies (RTE) program is a semester-long lay responder program designed to help participants recognize and respond to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.
This program is designed primarily for use in secondary schools, colleges, universities and other settings that require a curriculum of greater length than the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program. With the additional course length, RTE provides more in-depth lecture and discussion content as well as extended time for skill activities such as giving CPR and using an AED.
RTE is perfect for high school and college-level students in Health and Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise and Sports Science and Athletic Training departments to learn to handle the full range of emergencies, large and small!
